If the party is re-elected, Navjot Singh Sidhu will be appointed "Super CM": cong minister.

Days after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi named Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi as the party's chief ministerial candidate in the state's upcoming Assembly elections, party MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said on Friday that if the party is voted back into power, Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu will be named "Super CM." 

When asked the role the Congress party would give to Navjot Singh Sidhu if elected to power in Punjab, Mr Bittu told ANI, "He (Navjot Singh Sidhu) will be given Super CM office."

Mr Sidhu, a Congress leader, said he was pleased with Mr Channi's decision to be the chief minister's face in the approaching elections. 

"Did (Navjot Singh) Sidhu have any reservations about the choice of (Charanjit Singh) Channi as the CM candidate? He was pleased with the decision "he stated

Mr Bittu went on to say that the people of Punjab are hoping for Chief Minister Channi's success and that they will vote "like a festival" on election day. 

"Every impoverished person in Punjab prays in Gurudwaras and temples for (Charanjit Singh) Channi. We, ordinary people, are praying for him. The impoverished argue that only if (Charanjit Singh) Channi returns to power will our children be able to study and dream of one day becoming Chief Minister. People would vote for (Charanjit Singh) Channi on election day, just as they did for their festival. This is what the BJP and AAP fear "he stated

Mr Bittu slammed Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, who has announced Bhagwant Mann as their Chief Ministerial candidate for the 2019 elections, describing the party as the RSS's "B squad" and claiming that Mr Kejriwal aims to "split" Punjab. 

"In Punjab, the BJP has no presence. The RSS's B team, lead by Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party. Border disputes exist between Punjab and Haryana, as well as linguistic and water difficulties. (Arvind) Kejriwal wants to partition Punjab and grab its water, among other things "he stated

When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Punjab and the security breach that occurred during his visit to Ferozepur in January, the Congress MP suggested that he travel by air because people may come out on the roads in protest of him due to their rage over the anti-farm laws protest.

"He's more than welcome. The people have been told to pay attention to the Prime Minister. He should travel by plane. He'd still have issues on the road because he's been keeping every Punjabi on the road for over a year. How could they possibly forget? During the demonstration, about 700 farmers perished. If his car travels by road, people would be enraged, and they will likely demonstrate against the Prime Minister. As a result, he should take the helicopter "he stated

Mr Bittu also chastised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for detaining Mr Channi's nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey in connection with an alleged illegal sand mining case, claiming that the Prime Minister is venting his rage on the Chief Minister, who comes from a poor family. 

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is venting his rage on the Dalit (Channi) who rose from humble beginnings to become Punjab's Chief Minister. Honey, a destitute boy, was discovered. For the past 15 days, the ED has been battering him "he stated 

Meanwhile, Mr Honey was arrested on Friday and sentenced to 14 days in judicial detention in connection with an alleged illegal sand mining case.
